Los Angeles - 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo - Carbon Package, 40k Miles

The cheapest way to get into the legendary 911 Turbo range - this 2001 996 Turbo coupe is a low-mileage gem that looks like it has been loved. These cars expertly straddle the line between supercar and everyday runabout, capable enough to tear up a circuit before carrying your groceries on the way home.

Better still, the 3.6-liter flat-six in this Turbo produces 415 horsepower and suffers from NONE of the IMS issues that plague other 996s. A Porsche engineer named Hans Mezger brilliantly designed this car's engine without an intermediate shaft.

This particular example is cosmetically well-equipped, with carbon fiber interior trim, front and rear parking sensors, and premium sound. The only downside is the Tiptronic semi-automatic transmission - it's not as engaging as the 6-speed, though it's still a perfectly competent unit that fits the car's character.

At first glance, it looks like the car might be sitting on coilovers, but you'd want to confirm with the owner. You'd also want to see the car's service history, making sure that oil changes and fluid flushes were done at regular intervals by reputable locations.

It's also important to order a PPI on this car because of electrical issues - the 996 was Porsche's first attempt at a more digital version of the 911, so electronic gremlins are common.

Advertised at $47.85k, which is a bit steep, despite the 40k miles. Closer to $42-45k is better value. See photos below.
